Wesleyan and Montgomery College Sign Articulation Agreement |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
Under the terms of the agreement, Wesleyan will accept applications from Montgomery College students who wish to transfer to any baccalaureate program at Wesleyan. Montgomery College students, who have completed or will complete an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Fine Arts, or Associate of Arts in Teaching degree are eligible for admission application fee waivers as well as several Wesleyan scholarship programs. The new partnership allows students to transfer as early as the upcoming fall semester. Students from Montgomery College must earn 60 hours of credit from Wesleyan and earn a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in their major field of study to receive a bachelor’s degree. Montgomery College, a public, open admissions community college, enrolls more than 22,000 students each fall in credit and degree programs. While the college has several articulation agreements with institutions throughout the country, Wesleyan is the first West Virginia school to partner with the Maryland institution. The Montgomery agreement is the second articulation program announced by Wesleyan. Last month, the private residential college announced an articulation partnership with the ten West Virginia community and technical colleges. This was the first-ever private college-public system partnership in West Virginia. “We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Montgomery College,” said Dr. Larry Parsons, interim dean of the College. “Montgomery College has aligned with many prestigious colleges and we are happy to be a part of their future success. This agreement allows both institutions to continue to offer their students a rich and relevant learning experience.” “We are excited about working with West Virginia Wesleyan on this new transfer opportunity for our students,” said Dr. Mary Kay Shartle-Galotto, executive vice president of academic and student services at Montgomery College. “Creating a seamless transfer process will encourage more of our talented students to earn a bachelor’s degree. West Virginia Wesleyan College is a four-year private residential college that offers over 40 programs of study, 18 NCAA Division II sports, regionally renowned performing arts groups, and a comprehensive merit and need-based financial aid program. The College was recently selected as a “Best-Value College,” by the Princeton Review.
