West Virginia Wesleyan senior Wendy Pittman was awarded a $700 scholarship from the West Virginia Annual Methodist Conference from the Student Day Offering. Pittman was honored with the award during the first day of the annual conference held on the Wesleyan campus. She is a native of Brevard, NC, majoring in Christian Education.

Pittman maintains standing on the dean’s list, is active in the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honorary. She is also leader of the campus United Methodist Student Movement (UMSM) and leads at the Annual Conference and General Church level as well. She was elected to a two-year term on the UMSM Steering Committee in May, 2005.

She is also an active participant in the ministries of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church near the campus, and works closely with their Christian Educator on a variety of ministries. She has been the paid Director of Children’s Church for three years. In the midst of all this, she finds nourishment and balance as a participant and leader of a campus-based weekly Bible Study.

“Wendy is at the core of many of our campus ministry efforts on our campus, either as a leader or as a gentle and consistent disciple,” remarked Angela Gay Kinkead '79, Dean of the Chapel. “Without her, we would not be imagining or accomplishing all that we do in campus ministry on our campus and in the community.”
