West Virginia Wesleyan Renovating Residence Halls
released: 7/5/06

doney hallWest Virginia Wesleyan College has begun the first phase of a $2 million dollar residence hall renovation project.  The new improvements will provide new energy efficient windows, desks, chairs, beds, and doors for the three halls that house first-year students.  The second phase of the project, which will begin next summer, will include a complete renovation of all bathrooms in the three facilities.

The buildings, which are being renovated this summer, include Doney Hall, Fleming Hall, and McCuskey Hall.  All of the buildings will also receive exterior and interior painting, an upgrade to the television cable system, and more community space for students to enjoy.

“It is our goal to renovate all of the College’s residence halls over the next few years,” says Stephen Jones, vice-president for financial affairs at Wesleyan.  “We know students and their parents expect high quality living spaces when selecting a college.  We are taking steps to ensure that Wesleyan remains competitive for new students.”

The first phase of the project is expected to be completed in early August.  Over eighty percent of Wesleyan’s students live on-campus in nine residence halls.  The United Methodist-related school, which offers over forty majors of study, was recently named “Best Value College” by the Princeton Review.
