SEA Receives "Outstanding Chapter in the State"
released: 4/17/06


The Student Education Association (SEA) at West Virginia Wesleyan College received top honors at the an annual conference for the 18 SEA chapters, held in Charleston, WV. The organization received three awards, which included the Outstanding Chapter Award for the State of West Virginia. 

 In addition to the outstanding award, Wesleyan’s SEA received the Largest WVSEA Local Chapter. The third award, honorable mention for the Outstanding Service Project 2006, recognized the work the students performed at the Stockert Youth Center.

Five students, Megan Belden, a junior elementary education major from Forestville, MD, Gretchen Hurley a junior elementary education major from New Cumberland, MD, Rachelle Bourne, a senior elementary education major from Fairmont, Kate McConnell, a junior education major from Fairmont, Serena Show, a senior elementary education major from Bruceton Mills, and Carol Means, associate professor of education and SEA advisor, attended the award ceremony.

 “This is a great honor. Our chapter has had active membership with high attendance, excellent service projects, and committed officers and membership,” stated Dr. Means.

 SEA is actively involved in a variety of community service projects. Membership is open to all education majors and minors.
