Employment Opportunities

The Office of Housing and Residence Life comprised of approximately 50 undergrad student workers, 2 graduate assistants and 5 full-time professional employees. Student undergrads usually occupy the positions of Resident Assistants (RA) and Assistant Coordinators (AC). Graduate Assistants also function as ACs with other special responsibilities. The professional positions are the Director of Housing, Administrative Assistant and the Residence Life Coordinators (RLC). This diverse group of individuals makes up the team that plays the important role in the day to day operation of the Residence Halls.

Resident Assistants

The Resident Assistant (RA) is a student employee who lives and works within the residential community. The primary responsibilities of the RA include but are not limited to:

• Implements the aspects of the College, Student Services and the Office of Housing and Residence Life (OHRL) Mission statements as they relate to the residential community.
• Manages a residential area of 20 – 50 residents.
• Is responsible for programming and community development.
• Responds to policy infractions and promotes the rights and responsibilities of the residents.
• Completes administrative tasks as they relate to the position.
• Meets the expectations outlined in the position description including, but not limited to, duty, staff meetings, and opening and closing of buildings.
• Is an active participant in recruitment and selection activities and committees for the OHRL.

Assistant Coordinators

The Assistant Coordinator (AC) serves to create an environment in the residence halls that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and a sense of community consistent with the College and departmental mission statements. He/she shares leadership, support and supervision to the undergraduate students and staff (RAs), works closely with faculty and other staff in coordinating the delivery of educational projects and services to students, and plays a primary role in maintaining a high quality environment in the halls. The AC supports the leadership of the area Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) and provides assistance where needed.
