Gift
Policy
Annie Merner Pfeiffer Library gratefully accepts donations
of library materials as well as gifts of financial support. Books, media
materials, and other items may be delivered to the Library at any time.
Donors with large collections or unique materials are urged to consult
with the Director of Library Services before delivering any items.
The following guidelines apply to all gifts made to the Library:

Library staff determine which materials are appropriate
for the WVWC collections. The Library reserves the right to dispose
of duplicates
and materials not suitable for our collection. We may do this by
donation to other libraries, exchange, sale, or other means.
- Gift materials added to the collection may be withdrawn at a later
date as curricular needs, currency and accuracy, shelf space, or other
considerations apply. Library staff determine which materials are to
be withdrawn from the collections.
- The Library does not house donated collections separately; therefore,
any materials we accept will be shelved in the appropriate general
collection.
- The Library is happy to provide donors with a receipt listing gifts.
There are no professional appraisers on our staff, so we cannot assign
a value to gifts received. To assure accurate receipting, donors are
asked to complete a donation form when delivering materials.
- Book volumes and other library materials are identified as gifts
by addition of a bookplate inscribed with the donor's name. The donor
may request that the bookplate reflect a memorial gift. The donor's
name is also recorded in the catalog record for the item.
- Money gifts are welcomed by the Library. Gifts may
be designated for the purchase of specific books or other materials;
for acquisitions
in a specific subject area; or for memorial volumes. Money gifts should
be made to "Friends of the Library", and delivered to the
WVWC Library.
