Student Borrowers

All Library resources, including books, periodicals, media, software, equipment, and study space are available to students for use in the Library. A barcoded Wesleyan I.D. card is required for all Library circulation transactions. Barcodes are registered at the time of the student's first loan. Students may borrow Library materials under the following loan rules:

Circulating books are loaned for three weeks. When less than three weeks remain in a semester, the loan period is shortened to coincide with the end of the term. Items may be renewed if no other patrons have requested them.

The fine on overdue books is $.25 per day.

Students may have no more than 50 items out on loan at one time.

Reserve items are issued for the loan period stipulated by faculty (three hours, overnight, or three days). The fines on reserve items are $1.00/hr. for hourly loans and $10.00/day for daily loans. Items on closed reserve must be used in the Library.

Periodicals and Reference Books are for use in the Library only. I.D. is required for use of periodical back issues.

Videos are loaned for three days. No more than three videos may be borrowed at one time. The fine on overdue videos is $2.00/day.

Sound recordings may be borrowed under the same terms as circulating books.

The loan periods for interlibrary loan periods are set by the lending libraries and can vary greatly. Patrons must return interlibrary loan books by their due dates or risk suspension or termination of interlibrary loan privileges. Overdue fines for ILL materials are $1.00 per day. Students may also be assessed any charges from the lending library for overdue ILL materials.

Borrowing privileges are revoked for students with lost items or more than $50.00 in overdue fines. Items overdue more than 60 days are assumed lost.
