Upshur and Courtesy Borrowers

All Library resources are available to the public for use in the Library. I.D. may be required for use of restricted materials, including Reserves, Periodicals, Media, and Rare Book Room volumes. Patrons who are not College employees or students, and who wish to borrow circulating materials for use outside the Library, may request a library card under one of the following categories:

Courtesy Borrower : cards provided at no charge to College employees' spouses and dependents, emeritus faculty, alumni, Upshur County teachers, and local clergypeople.

Upshur Borrower : cards provided for $10.00 annual fee to adult residents of Upshur County and surrounding areas.

Courtesy Borrower and Upshur Borrower cards are issued from the Library only. Cards provided by other College offices may not be accepted as library cards. Loans are issued to both Courtesy Borrowers and Community Borrowers under the following rules:

Cards are issued to individual borrowers only.

Individuals must be at least 14 years of age to apply for a library card.

Additional picture i.d. may be requested of borrowers unknown to Library staff.

Cards will be issued within ten days of request, delivered by mail.

Loan period for circulating books is three weeks.

A borrower may have no more than ten items on loan, including no more than two videos.

Overdue fine is $1.00 per day for circulating materials except videos, which carry the fine of $5.00 per day.

Any loan may be recalled if items are needed by College faculty or students.

Privileges will be revoked if items are lost or overdue fines exceed $75.00.

Fee-based services, including interlibrary loan, are not offered to Courtesy and Upshur Card holders.

The library does not provide Internet access for community patrons.
