It is the story of John Bourdeau, a man who has spent his entire
life in the service of his God, and is now returning to Earth to
end his life on his home world. But perhaps God is not done with
John yet. An encounter on a distant planet with a strange old woman
will leads John to a place and a duty he never imagined, but which
may finally bring him the peace he has been seeking.
Nick Leigh and his family continue to live in Buckhannon. He and
his wife Betsy have two children. Leigh’s older daughter from
a previous marriage lives in Ohio with her husband. Leigh is a member
of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where he is active in
the choir.
Critical Responses
Novels about Christianity
in one form or another are not new; neither are novels set in outer
space or focusing on the lives and cultures of distant worlds. But
it is rare indeed to find an author who can successfully combine the
two – The Ultimate Apostle does exactly that. One Amazon commenter
remarked
It is a thought-provoking and passionate book that may hit at
the core of many Christians' beliefs. The first few chapters had
me awake
later than usually during the first night of reading because
some of my beliefs about traditional views on Jesus were really
challenged.
. .The author takes traditional Biblical teachings and offers
a theory for you to consider. Before anyone sees what Mr. Leigh
has done as
blasphemy, I encourage you to read it for yourself. He never
loses sight of God's love for his people or for the generosity
of God giving
us the gift of His salvation, no matter what form it comes to
us. I commend Nick Leigh for his unique and passionate tome.
