Wesleyan to Host Annual Family Weekend Celebration
Thursday, September 9th, 2010
West Virginia Wesleyan will host its annual Family Weekend celebration September 17-19. This year’s event will feature entertainment, excursions, athletic endeavors and enticing edibles.
Throughout the weekend, meals will be available in the French A. See Dining Center. Cost is $8 for adults and $6 for children under 12.
On Friday, parents who pre-register to do so can get a candid look at campus life by attending a favorite class with their sons and daughters. After lunch, transportation will be provided for families to take a trip to tour Ron Hinkle Glass, where they will discover some local history and heritage while enjoying the works of this master artisan. Friday evening, mentalist duo the Evasons will astound and amaze audience members with their powers of prediction, levitation, mind reading and telekinesis. Recognized as the finest mentalist duo in the world, the Evasons blend interactive entertainment and comic relief to leave their audiences wonderstruck. The duo has performed in 28 countries, and has made several national television appearances on such shows as Powers of the Paranormal on FOX, The World’s Greatest Magic on NBC, and Grand Illusions on the Discovery Channel.
Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, folks who may have missed it in the movie theaters will have a chance to check in with Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang when Toy Story 3 is featured in the Hyma Auditorium.
On Saturday, families will have the opportunity to eat breakfast with the Balches and have another chance to tour Ron Hinkle Glass, as well as to cheer the Bobcats on to victory against Concord at the football game. Kick-off is at noon. That evening, folks can discover the exotic flavors of Morocco when Chefs Kathleen and Jeff take families on a culinary tour of that country at the 88 Restaurant and Lounge. Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12, and reservations must be made in advance. At 9 p.m. , ten of Wesleyan’s most musically inclined students will vie for the title of Wesleyan Idol, with the audience picking the winner.
Family Weekend ends on Sunday with an Ecumenical Chapel Service featuring a guest preacher and lunch in the French A. See Dining Center.
