Arts Alive! Events Announced for the Fall Semester

West Virginia Wesleyan is pleased to announce the cultural events for the fall semester. The first event will open with “Spinning Yarns,” an internationally curated photography exhibition sponsored by Kendall College of Art & Design of Ferris University and Monmouth University, in Sleeth Gallery on September 4, and will continue through October 4. An opening reception will be held Tuesday, September 4 from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and an artist talk by Andy Bloxham, Wesleyan faculty, will immediately follow.

September 12 – Cashore Marionettes, Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts (PAC), 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Admission is $8 for the general public; $5 for senior citizens and students; and free with Wesleyan ID.

September 28 & 29 – The Stonewater Rapture presented by Alpha Psi Omega, English Annex, 8 p.m.

October 4 – Gender Studies symposium, “Being Relevant: Mobilizing for Reproductive Justice in Everyday Life” featuring Dr. Jeanne Flavin, Loar Auditorium, 6:30 p.m.

October 4 – Plastic Musik, PAC, 8 p.m. Admission is $8 for general public; $5 for senior citizens and students; and free with Wesleyan ID.

October 10 through November 1 – Ellen Mueller: Recent Works, WVWC newest art faculty, Sleeth Gallery. The opening reception is Thursday, October 18 from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. An artist talk will immediately follow.

October 27 – Play-in-a-Day, presented by Alpha Psi Omega, English Annex, 8 p.m.

November 8 – 10 – Wesleyan theatre department presents Antigone by Sophocles, PAC, 8 p.m.  and a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. Admission: $7 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens, and $3 for Wesleyan students/faculty with ID.

November 6 – November 15 — The 17 Tips Project, an exhibition based on William Powhida’s Tips for Artists Who Want to Sell and curated by Ellen Mueller in Sleeth Gallery.

November 11 – Concentus Vocum and Concert Chorale, “Organic Pairings,” Wesley Chapel, 3 p.m.

November 13- Wind and Brass Ensembles, PAC, 7:30 p.m.

November 14 – Percussion Ensemble, Loar Auditorium, 7:30 p.m.

November 27 – December 11, Fall Senior Thesis Exhibition

November 28 — Broadway’s Next Musical, PAC, 8 p.m. Admission is $8 for general public; $5 for senior citizens and students; and free with Wesleyan ID.

December 2 – Festival of Lessons and Carols with Concentus Vocum and Concert Chorale, Wesley Chapel, 4 p.m.

December 7- 8 – Jazz Ensembles in PAC, 8:00 p.m.
