Concentus Vocum and Concert Chorale to Perform Under New Director

West Virginia Wesleyan College will present the Concentus Vocum and Concert Chorale’s fall concert along with the brass ensemble on Sunday, November 11, 3 p.m. in Wesley Chapel.
Under the direction of first-year music director Dr. R. Daniel “Dan” Hughes, the group will present, “Organic Pairings,” a concert featuring choral works by Palestrina, Mouton, Monteverdi, Mozart, Britten, Pinkham and Martinson. The brass ensemble will be directed by directed by Dr. James Moore, director of bands. Admission is free and open to the public.
For the last nine years, Hughes has been the Director of Choral Activities and Coordinator of the Voice Area at Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York.
He obtained his bachelor of arts in vocal performance from Otterbein College and his masters of music in choral directing from the Eastman School of Music.
Hughes has published several reviews in The Choral Journal, and recently completed an article about Dominick Argento for the upcoming second edition of the Grove Dictionary of American Music, which is scheduled for publication in early 2013.
