Arts Alive! Announced for Spring Semester

West Virginia Wesleyan College is pleased to announce the cultural events for the spring semester. The first event opened with the 2013 WVWC Art Faculty Biennale, a compilation of recent and ongoing works by the faculty of the WVWC Art Department. The exhibit will continue through January 31 in Sleeth Gallery.  An opening reception will be held Thursday, January 17 at 4:30 p.m.

January 31 – February 2; February 7 – February 9- Wesleyan theatre department presents Wonder of the World by David Lindsay-Abaire, Rm. 10 of the English Annex, 8 p.m.  Admission.

February 5 – February 28- Playing with Myself, paintings and drawings by Cobi Moules, Sleeth Gallery.  Held in conjunction with the Gender Studies program of WVWC, an opening reception will be held February 7 at 4:30 p.m., with an artist’s talk to follow at 6:00 p.m.

February 15 & 16- Winter Dance Festival, Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts (PAC), details TBA

March 12 – March 21- 2013 WVWC Juried Student Exhibition, Sleeth Gallery.  The opening reception will be held Thursday, March 14 at 4:30 p.m.

March 26 – April 11- Spring Senior Thesis Exhibition, Sleeth Gallery.  The opening reception will be held Thursday, March 28 at 4:30 p.m.

April 4 – 6- Wesleyan theatre department presents The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan, PAC, 8 p.m. and a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.  Admission is $8 for general public; $5 for senior citizens and students; and free with Wesleyan ID.

April 7- Mountain Stage with Larry Grose, PAC, 7 p.m.  Guests and admission TBA.

April 16-May 3- Spring Senior Thesis Exhibition II, Sleeth Gallery.  The closing reception will be held Friday, May 3 at 1:30 p.m.

April 16- Concert Band, PAC, 7:30 p.m.

April 17- Percussion Ensemble, Loar Auditorium, 7:30 p.m.

April 21- Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, featuring the Concentus Vocum, Concert Chorale, and Percussion Ensemble, with featured works by Joseph Byrd and Eric Whitacre, Wesley Chapel, 3 p.m.

April 26- Jazz Ensemble, PAC, 8 p.m.
