Area Businesses Donate $74,900 to Wesleyan

West Virginia Wesleyan College has completed another successful Area Business Campaign with gifts totaling $74,900 to support scholarships for area students, athletic and academic programs, and facilities.  The total exceeded the $50,000 goal for the drive, which began in September.

“We are extremely grateful to those businesses that have made a gift to Wesleyan as part of our Area Business Campaign,” said President Pamela Balch ’71.  “This kind of support from professionals who know us well is a great endorsement.  The generosity of friends and alumni is why Wesleyan remains one of the premier residential colleges in the region.

Businesses who have donated to Wesleyan’s Area Business Campaign include: A.G. Trusler, Jr. Real Estate, A.M. Management, LLC (Papa John’s Pizza), J.F. Allen Company, Arnett, Foster, Toothman, PLLC., Buckhannon Family Dental, PLLC., ComforTech, Inc., Country Roads Physical Therapy and Rehab, Denex Petroleum Corp., Diane’s Hallmark Shop, Enterprise Holdings Foundation, First Community Bank, Gregory’s Barber Shop, Griffin Real Estate, Jenkins Ford-Mercury, K & M Properties (Bicentennial Inn and 88 Restaurant/Lounge), MPL Corporation, Premier Bank, Ralph’s Furniture & Appliance, Inc., Riverside Bed and Breakfast, Mike Ross Inc., Saint-Gobain SEFPRO, Sam’s Pizza, Sharon Sabo & State Farm Insurance, Sunset Graphics, LLC, Wal-Mart Foundation,  and Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers.

Terry Cronin of ComforTech, Inc., Kathleen Loughney of Bicentennial Inn and 88 Restaurant/Lounge, and Chad McIntyre of Wal-Mart served as the chairs for the campaign.

West Virginia Wesleyan is a private residential college that offers 43 majors and 36 minors, along with graduate programs in athletic training, business administration, education, English creative writing, and nursing.  Wesleyan is the only West Virginia college or university to be listed in the Great Schools at Great Prices category in the 2013 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges Guide. Wesleyan is also a first-tier regional college in the publication and was listed as the 12th best baccalaureate college in the nation by Washington Monthly.
