Office of Admission to Hold Annual Orange & Black Event

Thursday, February 14th, 2013

The Office of Admission at West Virginia Wesleyan College announces the 22nd annual Orange & Black Scholarship Recognition Day.  This invitation-only event will be held Saturday, February 23 on the College’s Buckhannon campus.  Open to accepted students and their families, this event is the Office’s most prestigious affair of the year.

Students who have been accepted to West Virginia Wesleyan for the fall 2013 term will be invited to spend the day on the College’s campus taking part in several activities, including a tour of the 102-acre Georgian campus, separate student and parent panels,  and informational sessions on financial aid, student accounts, and housing and residence life.  Students will also have the chance to sit down and have extended conversations with faculty from their academic areas of interest.  A special scholarship recognition banquet will close out the day’s festivities.  Students will have the option of an overnight stay on campus, concluding with breakfast that Sunday morning.

“Orange and Black Day is our favorite event day of the year as accepted prospective students and their families really get to learn what living the Wesleyan experience is all about,” stated John Waltz, director of Admission.  “There really is no other visitation like it at other schools.  It is rare for a college to have such an incredible volume of faculty, staff, and members of the administration come to spend an entire weekend with high school seniors to honor their accomplishments.  It really speaks to the culture here and to the amount of admiration we have for these potential incoming students and the difference they will make.”

Qualified students need to RSVP to the Office of Admission no later than Monday, February 18.
