Spring Planetarium Schedule Released
Wednesday, February 13th, 2013
The Planetarium at West Virginia Wesleyan College has released show dates for the March and April seasons.
March 2- IMAX Hubble. In this IMAX movie, you will travel with the astronauts as they make vital repairs and upgrades to the Hubble Space Telescope.
March 16- Bill Nye: The Planets. In this episode, Billy Nye gets up close and personal with each of the Solar system’s planets and moons.
April 6- Voyage to Pandora: First Interstellar Space Flight. Pandora is the idyllic blue world featured in the movie Avatar. Its location is a real place: Alpha Centauri, the nearest star to our Sun and the most likely destination for our first journey beyond the Solar System.
April 20- Food in Space. Have you ever wondered how astronauts do the simple things, like eat and go to the bathroom, in space? This video will answer these questions, and many more!
Shows begin at 8 p.m. on the second floor of Christopher Hall. No reservations are required, and tickets can be purchased at the door. Ticket prices are $3 for adults, $2 for students and seniors, and free to those under 18 years of age. Each planetarium showing includes a tour of the evening sky with free sky charts available, and there will be telescope observation following the shows if weather permits.
