West Virginia Wesleyan College has received a $100,000 gift from William and Mary Conner. The donation will be used to establish a scholarship in memory of Richard K. Wolford, the stepbrother of Mr. Conner.
The newly-endowed Richard K. Wolford Scholarship will be awarded to students with financial need who pursue a major in the natural sciences at Wesleyan. Mr. Wolford was a 1953 chemistry graduate of Wesleyan and enjoyed a distinguished career in the field.
“This is a wonderful gift for West Virginia Wesleyan College,” noted Bob Skinner ’75, vice president for advancement. “We are so grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Conner for their generosity and we are delighted they decided to honor a distinguished Wesleyan graduate. The College has a great tradition of excellence in the sciences. This gift will help ensure that we continue our reputation for providing generous scholarships to attract outstanding students.”
