Wesleyan to Sponsor First Graduate Studies Symposium: A Celebration of Scholarship
Monday, March 11th, 2013
West Virginia Wesleyan College is sponsoring a Graduate Studies Symposium: A Celebration of Scholarship on Wednesday, April 17 in the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts. This symposium is geared toward recent and current graduate students of Wesleyan who would like the opportunity to have their work presented in a competitively-selected forum that is also a resume builder.
Qualified students are encouraged to submit any scholarly work or creative endeavors created in 2012 and 2013 such as, but not limited to, original research focused on an issue or problem in your field, a project you executed individually or as part of a group, a literary work you will read at the symposium, or a critical review/paper of literature and/or past research on a particular topic.
The process for submission will involve the formal endorsement of a faculty sponsor/mentor and the completion of a short form that includes the submitter’s preferred format for presentation. Forms will be provided online in the next few weeks.
“As our graduate programs have grown over the past five years, we believe it is important that we share with the Wesleyan and broader community the scholarship that occurs every day in each of our graduate programs whether novel ideas as solutions to problems, creative works, or scholarly research,” stated Dr. Kay Long, dean of graduate studies.
Applications for the Symposium are due March 25, 2013.
