Dates for Fall Planetarium Schedule Released

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013

The Planetarium at West Virginia Wesleyan College has released show dates for the November and December seasons.

November 2- Webb Space Telescope: The Next Great Observatory.  The James Webb Space Telescope will see infrared light and is scheduled for launch in 2014 as a successor to the Hubble Space Telescope.

November 16- Food in Space.  Have you ever wondered how astronauts do the simple things like eat and go to the bathroom in space?  This video will answer these questions and many more.

December 7- Seeing the Universe.  Using state-of-the-art technology, telescopes provide spectacular views of the cosmos and even offer a glimpse back in time to the Universe’s earliest light.

December 21- Bill Nye: Earth’s Seasons.  In this episode, Bill Nye goes full tilt to explain the seasons, and he will show why it is winter in America when it is summer in Australia.

Shows begin at 8 p.m. on the second floor of Christopher Hall.  No reservations are required, and tickets can be purchased at the door.  Ticket prices are $3 for adults, $2 for students and seniors, and free to those under 18 years of age.  Each planetarium showing includes a tour of the evening sky with free sky charts available, and there will be telescope observation following the shows if weather permits.
