West Virginia Dance Company to be Featured at DanceWorks Performances
Thursday, April 3rd, 2014
West Virginia Wesleyan College’s Department of Theatre and Dance will host the West Virginia Dance Company (WVDC) for a special Saturday performance at the annual DanceWorks
concert. This year, the department is presenting two distinct shows over the weekend on April 4 at 7:30 p.m. and April 5 at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Culpepper Auditorium in the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts.
“We’re so excited to have the West Virginia Dance Company here performing for our students,” said Gretchen Moore, adjunct lecturer of dance at Wesleyan. “We have a strong relationship with WVDC and are honored to host them here. They are the premier professional dance company in the state, and our students will benefit immensely from interacting with these amazing performers.”
The appearance by the WVDC is part of a multi-show event for this year’s DanceWorks performance, with the group as the headliner for the Saturday performance at 7:30 p.m.
“We’ve really tried to reach out to other dance organizations and widen the scope of dance performance in this part of the state,” remarks Moore. “We are also hosting performances by students from the Morgantown Dance Studio and the Morgantown Ballet Company.”
The concerts will feature a mix of student choreography and works by Wesleyan dance faculty.
Tickets are available at the door and are $5 for adults, seniors/students $3, and free with a Wesleyan ID.
