Wesleyan Receives Gift to Develop PMP Certification Program

West Virginia Wesleyan College has received a $30,000 gift from Tony ’80 and Lorna Lindeman to support the development of a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification program in the School of Business to serve Wesleyan students as well as professionals in the region.
The PMP certification demonstrates competence in leading and managing projects in a variety of fields and is required, in some cases, for organizations to compete and obtain funding on government contracts.
Currently PMP certification courses are only offered in West Virginia through online training. The School of Business proposes face-to-face classes, workshops, and PMP certification examination study sessions, in addition to online support and mentoring.
The gift from the Lindemans will be used to cover educational expenses for one or more full-time or adjunct faculty members to obtain PMP certification, provide a stipend to faculty members who complete the certification to develop the curriculum, support expenses for marketing the certification program throughout the state, maintain PMP and local chapter membership for faculty, and provide scholarship support for appropriate students.
The addition of a PMP certification program will align with and support the School of Business’s mission, vision, core values, and student-learning goals. The program will also supplement the School’s current Project Management course offerings at the undergraduate and MBA levels.
Wesleyan’s School of Business offers majors in accounting, economics, management, marketing, sport business and both a MBA and a Five-Year Undergraduate MBA.
