Graduate Assistant for the Wellness Center

Overview: A graduate assistant for the West Virginia Wesleyan Wellness Center will gain both work and education experience valuable for entering the work force in the fitness and recreation setting. The assistantship required the student to work 20 hours per week at the WVWC Wellness Center. In addition the student will receive a tuition waiver to one of Wesleyan's graduate programs.
Responsibilities: Graduate Assistant will be required to assist the Coordinator in the day-to-day operations of the Wellness Center. These duties will include
- Assist with student workers recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluating
- Work front desk operations as needed
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist various programming offered including group exercise classes, wellness seminars, and incentives
- Contribute to introducing and assisting with any special events associated with the Wellness Center
Student will be expected to work morning shifts or evening shifts around their class schedule, along with being on call one weekend per month as deemed by Wellness Coordinator.
Minimum Requirements: Interested candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited university preferably in sports management, higher education, exercise science or a related field. Candidates must be accepted into one of WVWC's graduate programs. A minimum of one year of undergraduate experience in a campus recreation or fitness program and basic knowledge of gym equipment is required. Student must also possess strong leadership and supervisory skills to work directly with undergraduate work studies. The ability to work independently as well as be a member of a professional team is needed.
