Director of Counseling Services

West Virginia Wesleyan College is seeking a qualified professional to serve as our Director of Counseling Services. The successful candidate will have the ability to provide leadership for this critical area including the development, implementation and assessment of relevant programs and services. The Director also provides direct individual and group counseling and assessment services for students and is the key College liaison/resource on mental health issues, policies and practices, including crisis intervention. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and community partners/resources to assist students and provide quality preventive and educational programs for the Wesleyan community.

Preference will be given to candidates who have management/leadership experience in a college or university setting and also demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of the mental health counseling of young adults. A Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, clinical social work or a related mental health field is required, as is current National Certification, state licensure, or the eligibility for such licensure. At least five years of related experience is also preferred.
