Student Employment Oportunities
The Computing Services Helpdesk offers Wesleyan students many opportunities to expand their work-study employment into a quality learning experience. Responsibilities of our student employees vary dependant upon their level of expertise, interests, and employment duration. Some of the technical responsibilities covered by past and present employees include: Hardware and Software Diagnostics, Service of Desktop Systems, Service of Printers, Service of Mobile Systems, Network and Telephone Troubleshooting and Installation, Application Usage Training, Project Assistance, Web Development, and Database Design, Implementation, and Maintenance.
Some students have also completed CS/CIS Internships through our office. We welcome your proposition for your internship goals. Each application is evaluated on an individual basis. If you plan to apply for an internship through the Helpdesk, we strongly suggest that you submit your application one semester in advance to allow for review and response.
Each person accepted for a position with Computing Services will receive training and guidance from professional staff members and must be available one week before the start of the regular semester. Successful candidates must be dependable, responsible and possess excellent people and communication skills. A working knowledge of Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2003 Professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook), Electronic Mail, and IE Explorer are expected. Being comfortable with hardware configurations such as printers, network devices, and modem configurations is a definite plus, but is not required. The WVWC Helpdesk welcomes applicants from all diciplines of the college community; a technical major is not required.
