What We Do

The West Virginia Wesleyan College Circle asks several things of its members:

All members of the WVWC Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa are asked to assist in the selection process for prospective members.  The officers of the circle set up two evenings on concurrent days in the Benedum Conference Room, and members are asked to come on the day that suits them best to help select new members.

Selection usually takes ten to thirty minutes, and is an individual process.  Voting members are asked to give special attention to each application, and the activities listed on it.  Names are removed from all applications during the selection process for anonymity and protection of those who have submitted applications.

Members are also asked to help tap initiates.  Tapping involves personally welcoming those accepted into Omicron Delta Kappa with their acceptance letter, national forms, and their name for on the key.

Wesleyan’s Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa has a giant key that presides in front of the Wesleyan Chapel in the center of campus the week of tapping.  All initiates are given a laminated copy of their name to pin onto the key when they are accepted.  This honor is a campus-recognized event.

All members are also expected to attend initiation each semester.  Initiation dates are given well in advance, and are usually very near the end of the semester.

While these commitments may seem small, they are important to our chapter, and to its future as a prestigious and recognized honorary on campus.
