IV large group
sessions include many things. We sing contemporary and classic songs
from Amazing Grace’
to ‘Sanctuary,’
including Both preplanned songs and time for people to pick their
favorites. All 66+ songs are posted on PowerPoint and projected onto
the wall, for those who have not yet memorized them all!
We add new songs as we learn them, and are always open to more input!
In Large
Group we also have time for announcements about current Christian
activities on campus and in the community, time for Scripture, for
prayer and for new
speakers
each week on relevant and current topics to help us keep God in our
hearts the
rest of
the week! With a variety of sessions from interactive to all worship
to pure fun,
our
worship with Him is truly a celebration!
Large
group has been active at Wesleyan for Intervarsity longer than any
other of our ministries and is the “heart” of our group. Large group
is structured in such a way that newcomers are neither unnoticed or
overwhelmed, so that any one feels comfortable “trying it out” at any
point in any year, and so that those who cannot be there for the
entire meeting, can come for what they can without feel awkward or
embarrassed. For those who are able to attend IV regularly, it
becomes more than friendships, but a family of Christians who
encourage each other throughout every week, all year. It is a
Christian Fellowship in the best sense of the word!
BEWARE:
Hug-breaks are not uncommon at these meetings, though handshakes and
smiles are acceptable for those uncomfortable hugging strangers!
