The Sleeth Gallery at West Virginia Wesleyan College is pleased to welcome artist Justin Como’s “The Incredulity of Justin Como” exhibition to run February 8 through March 2. The opening reception will be Thursday, February 8 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. in the Sleeth Gallery with an artist talk to follow. The event is free and open to the public.
Como’s artwork explores boundaries of the body, spaces we inhabit, and the divisions between
them as we experience the two. Como’s artistic practice spans installation, ceramic sculpture, digital fabrication, video, and drawing. His current work illustrates notions of my sensory experiences with materials and recordings of a body in motion.
Como has exhibited his artwork in New York, California, Ohio, Mississippi, and Australia. Como received his BFA from the State University of New York at Oswego (2004) and an MFA in Sculpture and Expanded Practice from Ohio University (2012). He has taught at Ohio University and Mississippi Valley State University. Como is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at Herkimer College in Herkimer, NY where he lives with his partner and daughter. More information about the artist can be found at http://justincomo.com/home.html.
The Sleeth Gallery, located on the first floor of McCuskey Hall at the intersection of East Main Street and College Avenue, is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. or by appointment.
