West Virginia Wesleyan College’s Career Services’ most recent comprehensive research indicates that Wesleyan graduates are finding immediate success after graduation. Statistics compiled for the 2017 graduating class indicate that 97% are enrolled in graduate school or have been placed in a job. The statistical profile represents reporting from 85% of the class.
Over one-third of the class reported being in graduate school at institutions including Columbia University, University of Virginia, West Virginia University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Maryland, Ohio State University, University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, and Wesleyan.
Nearly two-thirds of students reported employment at places such as Disney, Ernst & Young, PDC Energy, the Pittsburgh Pirates, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Senate, BMW, the FBI, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Brevard Music Center, Telstra Corporation, and Thermo Fisher Scientific, as well as a number of medical centers around the nation.
Dr. James Moore, dean of the faculty at Wesleyan, says these outcomes “come as no surprise” to him.
“We have long understood the value and benefit of a Wesleyan education, one rooted in the liberal arts,” he stated. “Employers and graduate programs are hungry for individuals who are exceptionally creative thinkers and problem solvers who are broadly educated. This is why the liberal arts are so important, and this is why Wesleyan is exceptional at delivering that.”
The most recent statistics continue Wesleyan’s post-graduate success. The College’s alumni hold leadership positions in a variety of fields, and recent accolades include winners of the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, an Emmy award, Dove Music Award, and GRAMMY award nomination.
