West Virginia Wesleyan College to Welcome Fall 2021 Class Saturday

BUCKHANNON, West Virginia – West Virginia Wesleyan College is preparing to welcome over 340 new students to the Buckhannon-based campus for Orientation activities at their ‘Home Among the Hills’ this weekend.

Students in the new class boast an average GPA of 3.58 with 78 being accepted with honors distinctions. Eighty-five students earned a 4.0 or higher GPA. The top 10 majors students plan to study are nursing, exercise science, biology, business, general education, sport business, criminal justice, computer science, physics and accounting.

Forty-nine percent of the incoming class are in-state students. Of those from out-of-state, they hail from 27 states including Maryland, Florida, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Eleven countries are represented in this class including Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Canada, China, Japan, Malaysia, Puerto Rico, Spain, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom.

Vice President for Enrollment Management John Waltz ’01 said, “We are so excited to welcome such a talented, diverse and academically excellent class for Orientation. We appreciate the diligent work of the enrollment team, coaches, faculty, staff and students in helping these students reach their futures at West Virginia Wesleyan in an unprecedented year. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish!”

The fall 2021 new student class projects to be over 20% larger than the previous academic year.

The Class of 2025 also includes the first four Go D.O. Early Scholars who are guaranteed acceptance into the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine upon successful completion of their undergraduate program and interview and may waive the MCAT. West Virginia Wesleyan College announced this first-of-its-kind partnership last year and will roll out admissions for the next group of Go D.O. Early Scholars this fall.
