Student oral presentations were judged in either Humanities or Science. The top three speakers were awarded with a certificate and cash prize. The 2018 Mid-Atlantic Undergraduate Research Conference was a huge success thanks to a number of people including our volunteer judges, moderators, the Honors MAURC subcommittee, and of course, presenting and participating students. With over 35 presentations in fields ranging from English to History to Exercise Science, Physics, Math, and Biology, the MAURC provided a professional conference venue for a broad range of fields and students.
The highlight of the day was the keynote presentation by Dr. Mellissa Nixon (WVWC, 2010). She discussed her journey as a college student at Wesleyan to her current post-doctoral work in immune evasion of cancerous tumors at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
