Scholarships & Grants

In addition to a comprehensive merit scholarship and grant program, West Virginia Wesleyan offers a few additional scholarship opportunities for students in specific academic disciplines or involved with the United Methodist Church. It is also important to remember that Wesleyan also accepts all outside scholarships, and will consider all outside scholarships as stackable on top of your institutional financial aid award.

At West Virginia Wesleyan, academic scholarships are awarded automatically with your acceptance to the College. Other scholarship programs may require additional action on the student’s part, ranging from initiating contact with coaches, to submitting additional materials. For more information on specific requirements, read below.

Grants

Grant eligibility is determined by information submitted by you and your parent(s) on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Wesleyan’s FAFSA code is: 003830.

Federal Pell Grant amounts are based on your estimated family contribution.

West Virginia Higher Education Grants are awarded based on your estimated family contribution, and are only awarded to West Virginia residents. To be eligible, your FAFSA must be filed by April 15. Click here for more information.

Pennsylvania Higher Education Grants are awarded to students residing in Pennsylvania. Click here for more information.

Verification

Each year the United States Department of Education selects approximately one-third of all financial aid applications for a process called “Verification”. If selected, the Financial Aid Office will send you a verification worksheet.

This is necessary to verify the accuracy of information submitted on the FAFSA. Students must submit all necessary documents to the Financial Aid Office. Failure to do this will result in cancellation of need-based financial aid until verification is complete. The Financial Aid Office will notify a student if, as a result of verification, the student’s expected family contribution (EFC) changes and creates a change in the student’s financial aid eligibility.

If you are unable to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT), you must request Tax Return Transcripts.
