The Department of Athletics of West Virginia Wesleyan College is currently accepting applications for a Director of Strength and Conditioning Coach. This is a full-time, 11-month appointment. The position will oversee the day-to-day operation of the athletic weight training facility, as well as design programs, and implement periodized training plans for all athletic teams. This responsibility will include, but is not limited to:
- Creating annual plans for teams
- Building periodized training programs
- Leading and implementing periodized training programs with student athletes
- Coaching training sessions for teams
- Overseeing the daily maintenance of the weight room
- Work with sport coaches to identify team training goals
- Collaborate with athletic training staff to ensure proper rehabilitation from injury
- Implement performance tracking measures to document progress throughout the annual plan
- Design the daily schedule of the athletic weight training facility
The Director of Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for the direction and operation of all phases of a competitive athletics program in accordance with WVWC, the Mountain East Conference, and NCAA DII regulations. Position duties include, but are not limited to: scheduling; individual instruction/athlete improvement; organizing and directing individual/small group/team practice activities involving instructing/teaching student-athletes in the rules, regulations and techniques of the sport; planning; coordinating community involvement; modeling professional behavior and maintaining appropriate conduct towards athletes, officials, spectators and colleagues; completing/submitting administrative and compliance documents and other duties assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree, at least (1) year of successful experience at the collegiate level
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The preferred candidate will possess the following:
- Knowledge of exercise technique and instruction
- Ability to design and implement individual and group training programs for all sports
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and maintain communication and discretion with proper departments
- Ability to communicate with other departments efficiently and effectively
- High-level interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field
- Current NSCA – CSCS or CSCCa – SCCC certification
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Valid driver’s license
