Director of the School of Education
West Virginia Wesleyan College is seeking an innovative and results-oriented leader to serve as a full-time faculty member and Director of the School of Education. The Director will play a pivotal role in advancing the School’s mission, with a strong focus on maintaining and enhancing CAEP accreditation and leading strategic initiatives to recruit and retain students, thereby growing enrollment across all education programs. The Director will collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to ensure the highest standards of educator preparation and program quality.
Key Responsibilities
● Provide visionary leadership for all undergraduate programs within the School of Education.
● Lead efforts to maintain, strengthen, and expand CAEP accreditation, ensuring compliance with all standards and continuous improvement processes.
● Develop and implement strategic recruitment and marketing initiatives to attract, enroll, and retain a diverse and talented student body.
● Oversee long-range planning, fiscal management, and resource allocation for the School of Education.
● Support faculty and staff development, including recruitment, mentoring, and evaluation.
● Guide program assessment, curriculum review, and the development of innovative academic offerings.
● Carry a teaching load as appropriate based on experience and program needs
● Cultivate partnerships within the college, across the university, and with external partners, including local schools, alumni, and community organizations.
● Advocate for the School of Education and its programs at the campus, county, state, and national levels.
● Participate in college-wide service and committee work
Qualifications
● Earned doctorate in Education or a closely related field
● Record of excellence in teaching, continued learning, and service
● Demonstrated experience in academic leadership, including personnel supervision, budget management, and program development
● Direct experience with CAEP accreditation, including self-study preparation, implementation of an effective quality assurance system, and site visits. Extensive knowledge of CAEP accreditation processes and standards
● Success in student recruitment, enrollment management, and program growth
● Experience building partnerships with P-12 schools and community organizations
● Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
