The Academic Coaching and Comprehensive Educational Support Services program aims to provide high-impact individualized academic support for college students through professional tutoring in reading skills, study strategies, time managment and academic writing/editing.

Program Description
  • This optional, fee-based program is designed for students with learning disabilities, ADHD, or other documented disabilities, but is open to any WVWC student.
  • Services include one-on-one tutoring with professional tutors trained to address the unique challenges faced by students in higher education.
  • Core areas of focus:
    • Reading assistance (including strategies for comprehension and retention)
    • Study skills (active reading, note-taking, test preparation)
    • Time management and organization
    • Academic Tutoring
    • Writing and editing support.
Services Provided
  • Weekly individual sessions with an academic coach
  • Special emphasis on time management, motivation, notetaking, and planning.
  • Assistance with editing and organizing papers.
  • Sessions on test-taking strategies and memory techniques.
  • Campus resource referrals (e.g., Writing Center, Counseling).
  • Use of graphic organizers, checklists, and explicit instructional techniques.​
Fee Structure
  • Semester fee based on the number of hours per week
  • Partial scholarships can be made available for qualifying students depending on institutional resources.
    • $550 for one hour a week for the semester (approximately 15 sessions)
    • Additional sessions per week will be discounted as follows:
      • $1000 per 2 sessions a  week for the semester
      • $1350 per 3 sessions a week for the semester
      • $1600 per 4 sessions a week for the semester
      • $2000 per 5 sessions a week for the semester
Eligibility
  • Priority given to students with a primary diagnosis of a learning disability or ADHD, but the program is open to other students as capacity allows.​
Staffing
  • Professional academic coaches/strategic content tutors with differing backgrounds.
  • Professional reading specialist to provide interventions for students with need
Assessment and Outcomes
  • Regular assessment of student progress (GPA monitoring, satisfaction surveys).
  • Individual progress reviews conducted every academic year.
  • Ongoing feedback from students to tailor services and address emerging needs.​
