About the Tuition Lock
Your tuition rate doesn’t increase while you’re enrolled. What you pay freshman year is what you pay senior year.
If you’re enrolling beginning in Fall 2027, your tuition rate is locked for all four years. If you’re already enrolled as of Fall 2027, your tuition is locked from that point through graduation.
No application is required, and yes, it applies regardless of your eligibility for those programs.
The Tuition Lock Guarantee is not a separate financial aid program. It is simply how WVWC sets tuition for eligible students and exists independently of the University’s affordability programs.
No. The Tuition Lock Guarantee only covers your tuition rate.
If you qualify for Home Among the Hills or Wesleyan Promise Plus, those programs also cover required fees. Room and board are not covered through these programs and should be planned for separately.
Eligibility & Qualifying
Eligibility depends on where you live and which financial aid programs you qualify for.
- West Virginia residents who are Pell Grant eligible and receive the Presidential or John Wesley Scholarship (3.3 weighted GPA or higher) qualify for Home Among the Hills.
- West Virginia PROMISE Scholarship recipients who maintain eligibility qualify for Wesleyan Promise Plus.
- Students from outside West Virginia may qualify for Access Advantage.
All students receive the Tuition Lock Guarantee regardless of residency.

These are separate programs, and students qualify for one or the other.

Students receiving athletic scholarships are not eligible for either program. Walk-ons and roster athletes who do not receive athletic scholarships may still qualify
Applying & Deadlines

Home Among the Hills and Wesleyan Promise Plus are awarded automatically using your admissions application, FAFSA, Pell Grant eligibility, PROMISE Scholarship status, and academic scholarship information already on file with WVWC.
Access Advantage also does not require a separate application. Eligible out-of-state students are identified directly by the Admissions team.
Specific deadlines have not yet been published.
Funding is limited, so students are encouraged to complete admissions and financial aid requirements as early as possible. Deadline information will be shared during the admissions process.

Home Among the Hills
Home Among the Hills is a last-dollar program that covers 100% of tuition for eligible West Virginia students at a tuition rate that never increases.
The program combines available federal and West Virginia aid, including the PROMISE Scholarship, the West Virginia Higher Education Grant, and the Pell Grant, along with WVWC scholarships, grants, and eligible talent awards. WVWC then covers any remaining tuition balance.
Eligible students are West Virginia residents who qualify for the Pell Grant and receive the Presidential or John Wesley Scholarship (3.3 weighted GPA or higher).
Students receiving athletic scholarships are not eligible. Walk-ons and roster athletes without athletic scholarships may still qualify.

Your full tuition coverage continues throughout all four years under the Tuition Lock Guarantee.
Wesleyan Promise Plus
Wesleyan Promise Plus is a full tuition-and-fees scholarship for eligible West Virginia PROMISE Scholarship recipients.
Students who receive the PROMISE Scholarship ($5,500) and maintain eligibility receive additional institutional support from WVWC to fully cover tuition and required fees. Athletic scholarship recipients are not eligible.

Wesleyan Promise Plus and Home Among the Hills are separate programs, and students qualify for only one.
No.
Room and board are not included and should be covered through family resources, student or parent loans, or other available funding. Any aid beyond the PROMISE Scholarship is first applied toward tuition and fees.
Your award adjusts accordingly.
Living on campus is encouraged but not required. If you move off campus and your total financial aid exceeds tuition and fees, your award will be adjusted to match your tuition and fee costs.
Access Advantage Program
Access Advantage is a scholarship for out-of-state students that helps bridge the gap between financial aid available in their home state and the cost of attending WVWC.
The award averages $4,000. If your home state offers grants that help make college more affordable, Access Advantage provides similar support for attending WVWC.

There is no separate application. Eligible students are identified by the Admissions team, who will work directly with you throughout the process.
Yes.
Access Advantage may be combined with WVWC academic scholarships, grants, and select talent awards in the arts and service.
