BUCKHANNON, West Virginia — West Virginia Wesleyan College recently recognized employees’ years-of-service milestones, as well as two employees who have served the College for 50 years, leaving a lasting impact.
Dr. Kathy Gregg, who already received her retirement gift when she retired from full-time employment, will have a plaque dedicated in her honor by the Native WV Plant Garden located between Reemsnyder Research Center and Christopher Hall of Science. Gregg became Professor of Biology, Emerita in 2012, but continued to direct the greenhouse and herbarium.
Carol Bowman ’92, Coordinator of Access Services & Acquisitions Librarian, received a WVWC chair for her milestone.
Dr. Lynn M. Linder, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, said, “It is difficult to put into words what Kathy and Carol have meant to the College over 50 years. Their mentorship, dedication, and passion for their work have shaped Wesleyan in immeasurable and lasting ways. We are so proud and grateful to recognize their extraordinary service.”
Also recognized were Head Women’s Softball Coach Steve Warner for 35 years; and assistant controller Brenda Oldaker for 30 years.
Dr. Kimberly Bjorjo (biology); President James Moore and Dr. Kelly Terhune (Thomas Albinson School of Business) were all recognized for reaching 20 years of service.
Those reaching 15 years of service were Susan Rice (nursing); Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management Leah Ripley; and Vice President for Student Affairs Alison Whitehair.
Employees recognized for 10 Years of Service were Crystal Brown (School of Art); Dr. Kimberly Conrad (Thomas Albinson School of Business); Seth Maynard (School of Music) Dr. Jesse Oldroyd (mathematics); Vicki Sharp (Education); Tom Smith (Thomas Albinson School of Business); Stan White (Physical Plant) and John Zubal (athletic training).
Five years of service certificates went to Dean of the Chapel Jonathan Acord; Alexander Bradley-Popovich (Physics and Engineering); Amanda Hayes (marketing and communications); Irene Hulcher (Physical Plant); Dr. Mary Medlin (psychology); Dr. Joseph Niderhauser (biology); Bryce O’Louhlin (The Learning Center); Kyle Rogers (Department of History and Political Science); and Head Women’s Basketball Coach Brett Vincent.
The College recognizes employees in five-year increments at each end of the year staff and faculty picnic.
