BUCKHANNON, West Virginia — West Virginia Wesleyan College’s The Learning Center & Accessibility Services’ Walk-in Tutoring Program has been awarded certification as a Level I International Tutor Training Program by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).
To earn ITTPC certification, The Learning Center & Accessibility Services successfully completed CRLA’s peer review process and demonstrated that its tutor training program meets established standards for tutor selection, training, direct service and program evaluation.
The Walk-In Tutoring Program provides faculty-recommended tutors who are trained and supervised to assist students with the goal of promoting independence in learning. Tutors can help students understand how to complete homework and other assignments, determine how and what to study, figure out professor expectations, etc.
Anita Dib, director of The Learning Center & Accessibility Services, said, “This achievement recognizes The Learning Center & Accessibility Service’s commitment to providing tutors with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver effective academic support and reflects the program’s dedication to quality, professional development, and student success. We have maintained this certification since 2002.”
CRLA’s International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) is a nationally and internationally recognized certification that promotes high-quality tutor training and academic support programs. For more than 30 years, CRLA has been a leader in learning assistance, reading, and academic support, serving professionals and programs dedicated to student success.
